Oral care for difficult-to-treat acne. Read about its action on sebum and clogged pores, consultation, blood monitoring and essential pregnancy precautions. This is privately paid treatment with a medicine unapproved in Japan.
An oral retinoid that acts on factors including sebum production, used to discuss acne inadequately controlled with other care. It is not an antibiotic. Dryness, laboratory changes and major pregnancy-related risks require medical monitoring.
Review previous acne treatment, liver or lipid abnormalities, mood symptoms, medicines, supplements and pregnancy potential. Do not use during pregnancy or when planning pregnancy. Tetracycline antibiotics and vitamin A products require particular interaction checks.
After the web questionnaire, an in-person doctor visit determines suitability, dose and duration. Arrange required blood or pregnancy testing and contraception planning, with follow-up tests as indicated. The clinic uses external blood tests, charged separately from medicine.
Prepare for dry lips, skin and eyes with moisturizers and sun protection. Avoid blood donation during treatment and for one month afterward; follow the doctor’s pregnancy-prevention and testing instructions. Do not share medicine or change or restart dosing on your own.
There is a major risk of fetal harm. Monitor liver or lipid changes, severe headache or visual symptoms, abdominal pain and mood changes. Possible pregnancy or significant symptoms require immediate contact with a doctor to assess continuation.
